South-South Youth Platform on Climate Justice (SYPLACTICE)

About   South-to-South Youth Platform on Climate Justice

The South-to-South Youth Platform on Climate Justice –SYPLACTICE is a Global South platform formed under the auspices of the Pan Africa Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA). It was conceptualised as a felt need by empowered and trained alumni of the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice (NSSCJ) which was hosted in Nairobi, Kenya  2022 at Kenyatta University from 30th August – 11th September 2021.

The need to empower African youths on climate change has become a priority due to the unpredictability of weather conditions, when youths are empowered, they become resilient and alert of climatic shocks. Due to this, in 2021 the Pan Africa Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) hosted its first ever Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice (NSSCJ). This was a hybrid school hosting over 500 campaigners, activists, younger generations of climate justice advocates and practitioners from over 48 countries from the global South to learn, share experiences and perspectives and to reflect on just pathways to low-carbon, climate-resilient development trajectory.

This initiative led to the birth of South-to-South Youth Platform on Climate Justice (SYPLACTICE) a much-needed Global South Platform for the alumni to continue with networking, sharing best practices, opportunities sharing and further their knowledge and understanding on Climate Justice. The platform is constituted of activists, technical experts, researchers, grassroot youths and other organizations across Africa and beyond

SYPLACTICE Consolidate efforts and voices of Climate justice activists working across the Global South to create a strong youth climate justice advocacy platform for the Global South and grow and expand climate justice work through networks, and strengthening coordination amongst NSSCJ Alumni
