Heba Momtaz

Egypt

-I’m Heba Momtaz, and I boast a career spanning over a decade in the realm of civil society, commencing in 2011. Over the years, I have diligently worked across all the Sustainable Development Goals, assuming roles such as project coordinator, development project manager, and sustainability trainer. It was in 2018 that I ventured into the domain of climate change, where my initiatives have predominantly centered on fostering environmental awareness among youth. These initiatives encompass diverse themes, including climate awareness, environmental preservation, biodiversity conservation, green job creation, and the promotion of sustainable economic practices.  My professional journey also features a significant tenure as the Executive Director of a non-governmental organization (YLE) based in Egypt. In this capacity, I facilitated capacity-building programs aimed at empowering civil society actors with a keen focus on climate justice. Additionally, I spearheaded campaigns to raise awareness about hygiene and sanitation in the Nile River region, advocated for plastic reduction, and championed climate education within academic institutions.  Furthermore, I proudly served as the National Coordinator for COY17 within Youngo and held the distinguished role of an official speaker during sessions at COP27, where I addressed critical topics spanning gender equality, agriculture, plastic waste mitigation, volunteerism, green economic practices, and the creation of green jobs.  In the past year, my commitment to the cause has led me to traverse international borders. I journeyed to Kenya to Summer School, second batch hosted by Kenyatta University, embarked on a mission to Gabon to engage with the African Climate Week, and represented Egypt as a Sustainable Development Ambassador for Youth in Beirut.  Presently, I have embarked on an entrepreneurial venture in the agricultural sector, focusing on innovative solutions for the management of agricultural waste. My journey continues to be marked by a resolute dedication to advancing sustainability and climate action. She founded the Amna Feminist Initiative to help women know their rights through workshops, training, and storytelling sessions

As a founder of the initiative, I participate in all sustainable development goals

I was chosen to represent the youth in the national dialogue that was proposed by my state

Also a founding partner and director of operations in the Climatify company in the Emirates, which was established this year. We work in the field of climate digitization
